After dropping the parents off at Sea-Tac Airport on Tuesday we immediately picked up a new guest – Steve’s good friend Beth from back home. She informed us that RV-living was in her blood so we knew she’d take to our lifestyle just fine.
We stayed two nights at the Newhalem Campground in North Cascades National Park and completed a breathtaking 7.5 mile hike along Maple Pass Loop Trail. This may have been one of the most picturesque trails we have done on our journey thus far. The views were spectacular and included glaciers, wild flowers, waterfalls, glacial pools, dense forest and abundant wildlife. Our max elevation at the top was 6,120 feet (For you East Coast folks, this is just shy of Mt Washington’s 6,289 feet). We enjoyed lunch at the top then began our decent down before the sun sank below the tree line.
After a couple great days in the woodland we traveled southeast to Lake Chelan where we enjoyed a day at the lake and the local farmers market. We got a good night’s rest and safely delivered Beth to her sister in Spokane. She will continue on her Washington vacation. As for us… we head south to Oregon!
